Seafari

Falmouth Life Boat

No gardening again - yesterday was filled with mundane chores and errands. But, the evening was for a Seafari with friends. The idea was to go looking for dolphins, basking sharks, giant sunfish, seals and sea birds. Unfortunately, bad luck (and bad planning) struck - my camera ran out of power before we left the harbour, so I wasn't able to record much.

Falmouth Harbour

We had a beautiful evening, calm and warm. Spirits were high. One of our friends has lived in Cornwall for many years and was desparate to see wild dolphins. Dolphins are often seen in our harbour or near the town beaches.

Captain Peregrine Keith

Our captain was friendly and very knowledgable about the local coast line, local wildlife and boats.
Off we went, expectations were high.

The coastline is beautiful.

These pictures don't do it justice. It was at this point that my camera lost power.

We saw a couple of seals and lots of sea birds. Plenty of seaweed as well as some fabulous, secluded beaches, caves and seaside villages. I got to see bits of coastline that I had never seen before. I was impressed, despite the lack of dolphin, basking shark and sunfish sightings. It was a great evening, finished off with dinner at our local beach cafe.

The closest we got to a dolphin. Better luck next time.
